Of course this bridge was not without its own controversy. The $4.25 million bond was a tough sell. The suspension design was not only aesthetically preferred, it also saved $640,000 over the originally proposed cantilever bridge. Nice compromise!

I have a set of Encylopedia

I have a set of Encylopedia Britannica from 1960 that my parents bought in that year. Under bridges one of the bridges included in the photographs is the St. Johns bridge. Dave Lister
